Work Permits

 

All Work Permits will be processed in the EDHS Student Services office.

Please allow 1-3 school days for the work permit to be completed after it is turned in to Student Services.

THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA REQUIRES THAT ALL MINORS (A PERSON UNDER THE AGE OF 18) HAVE A WORK PERMIT ON FILE AT THE WORKSITE BEFORE THE EMPLOYMENT IS LEGAL

Exceptions: Possession of a High School Diploma or Student is 18 years old

A minor not attending school is not eligible for a California Work Permit

  • Step 1: Download and print the Work Permit Application (At the bottom of this page). They are also available in the EDHS offices. To be eligible- student must have a GPA of 2.0 or higher, good attendance, and a job offer (you must have a job offer before you can obtain an official Work Permit).
  • Step 2: The work permit application, B1-1 form must be completely filled out in blue or black ink and must have the student's social security number. The application requires the signature of the student, the employer and the parent/guardian. 
  • Step 3: Drop off the completed work permit application to Ms. Alcantar in the EDHS Student Services office.
  • Step 4: Once it has been received and processed, the student will need to return to Student Services 1-3 school days later to sign and pick-up the completed work permit
  • Step 5: The B1-1 is the document that the student needs to submit to his/her employer to be able to begin work.

Work Permit Renewal

Attention Students with an Active Work Permit: If you currently have a work permit on file, they are set to expire on August 21st, 2024. If you are still working, please fill out our Work Permit Renewal Form for the 2024-25 school year. This will allow your work permit to be renewed without having to fill out a new work permit application.

Processing will take 1-3 school days. At that time, stop by Student Services to sign and pick-up your new work permit to take to your supervisor. If you are still working and under the age of 18; you MUST have a work permit on file.
